Altitude Changes along the Trail

The journey progresses to Manang, situated at approximately 3,540 meters (11,614 feet), where the rugged beauty of the Himalayas unfolds. Continuing the upward journey, bikers reach Yak Kharka at about 4,050 meters (13,287 feet), encountering high-altitude pastures. Itinerary

day-1

Our guide will come and get you from the hotel after you have breakfast. You will go to Besisahar by car on this day of your journey. There is a blacktop on the route to Besisahar. It will help you acclimate to the mountain biking that you will briefly start on the Annapurna Circuit. A 7-hour drive will get you from the Kathmandu Valley to Besisahar. About 175 kilometers separate Besisahar from the Kathmandu Valley. Before heading to Chame, the beginning of your mountain bike adventure, you will stop for a little rest on Besisahar.

As you leave Chame and venture, into the pathways of the forest you will embark on a breathtaking adventure, through the Himalayas. Surrounded by mesmerizing views of the Annapurna range and Lamjung Himal (6983m) reaching the village of Dhikur Pokhari will be well worth it. From this point the trail becomes smoother allowing you to fully appreciate the vistas that only become more spectacular as you ascend higher. The delightful and fragrant scent of the Himalayan pine forest will engulf your senses creating an experience. Finally we reach Pisang, a town inhabited by Gurung and Thakali communities, where we spend the night at a lodge located in the part of town.

Set out on an exciting mountain bike ride via Ghyaru today from Pisang to Manang. Your journey will take you through thick pine forests and a strenuous ascent to the picturesque village of Ghyaru. Once there, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the surrounding peaks, which include Annapurna II and IV. You might be able to see blue sheep, horses, yaks, and yetis as you pedal along. After a filling lunch in Nawal, continue your descent into the verdant Humde valley. When you finally reach Manang, you'll spend the night in a cozy tea house surrounded by the breathtaking Himalayan scenery.

Today will be a difficult journey. The last 500 meters are uphill riding to reach Yak Kharka (4035m). It's crucial to pace yourself and take in the stunning splendor of the mountains as you prepare for thinner air and difficult terrain. You'll get a beautiful glimpse of Mt. Gangapurna, which is 7455 meters high, throughout the route. On our way to Yak Kharka, we will pass locals riding horses and yaks grazing in the field as we go down a rough road. Spend the night at a Yak Kharka lodge.

Today's journey will not be easy. Until we reach Yak Kharka (4035m), we have to pedal our bikes 500 meters uphill. Pacing yourself and taking in the beautiful splendor of the mountains is crucial as you prepare for thinner air and difficult terrain. There is a breathtaking view of Mt. Gangapurna, which is 7455 meters high, along the route. En route to Yak Kharka, we will pass by locals galloping horses and yaks grazing in the field while following a rugged trail. Stay the night at a Yak Kharka resort.

Join us now. Embark, on a journey! Experience the thrill of a demanding mountain biking adventure by setting off in the morning. As we pedal our way to the 5416 meter peak of Thorong La Pass we must prepare ourselves for the trail and the heights that await us. This expedition will require you to carry your bike on your back, for a 5 kilometer ascent, which typically takes three to six hours. However the sense of accomplishment upon reaching the summit makes every ounce of effort worthwhile. Embrace this opportunity to reach heights and savor each step along the way.

Celebrate attaining this amazing milestone and take in the stunning panoramic views from the peak. You can bathe under the 108 water sprouts at Muktinath Temple in the morning, which is said to wash away your sins. Following our visit to the temple, we will resume our bike trip and travel in the direction of Marpha.  There's a little push along the route as we approach to Dhangla Danda, which offers breathtaking vistas of the Himalayas. After today, the rides will be simple. Before reaching Lupra Valley, we pass numerous mani walls and chhortens while riding on difficult trails.

Following the breathtaking vista of the Himalayas, we travel through the Kali Gandaki Valley to arrive at Marpha, Nepal's Apple Capital. Apple orchards and apple-related byproducts are the main draws of Marpha. Spend some time learning about the local Thakali culture by meandering through the cobblestone streets.

day-8

From Marpha, the trail generally descends to Tatopani. Beginning gently and level, the trail passes through small settlements and pine trees before following the river. On a clear day, you may witness breathtaking vistas of the snow-capped summits. The cascading waterfalls at Rukse Chaahara will be the lunch halt.

After lunch, we'll veer off the main jeep route and go around the picturesque Titi Lake and pine trees. Before making the last 20 km steep descent from Kalopani to Tatopani, you'll encounter sweeping turns, drops, and rocky patches.

Hold on to your hats—this will go quickly! Tatopani is a hamlet with cobblestone streets that is well-known for its revitalizing hot springs, where you can treat yourself to a well-earned soak to relieve any aching muscles.

The journey's final ride! Once the hard effort is done, the ride down to the trail's end is leisurely. The trail gently undulates all the way to Maldhunga, and riding will seem easy until you're back at lower elevations. There is jeep track for the first 21 kilometers to Beni, after which there is broken tarmac.

After the MTB-WW team receives you at Maldhunga, they will load your bags and bikes onto the car, and it will take about three to four hours to get you to Pokhara.

There will be lots of free time after you arrive in Pokhara and check into your accommodation for sightseeing and shopping in the tranquil lakeside town. Following their successful completion of "The Annapurna Circuit," riders and crew members can celebrate at a variety of hotels, restaurants, and bars that meet world standards.
