Bardiya National Park

Situated in Nepal’s Terai Region to the southwest, Bardia National Park spans an area of about 1000 square kilometers. Bardia National Park is made up of open grasslands, rivers full of islands, and a dry forest full of cotton and silk trees. Bardia National Park attracts visitors with its jungle excursions. Experience a 4WD jeep safari to catch a glimpse of tigers, rhinos and groups of elephants along, with a variety of other animals. Boasting over 250 bird species, 30 mammals, diverse reptiles and aquatic creatures the park showcases an array of wildlife.

You may encounter creatures such, as the fish eagle crested serpent eagle, goshawk and animals like tigers, blackbuck antelopes, wild elephants and more. The famous Karnali River, located on the border is home to species like the marsh mugger crocodile, Gangetic dolphin and the masher game fish.

Bardia National Park is known for its range of wildlife including reptiles and birds. It is considered one of the protected areas, in the Terai region and serves as a habitat for endangered species like the royal Bengal tiger, Nepal tiger and the iconic one horned rhinoceros. Situated in the region of Bardia the park is bordered by the Karnali River to the west the Churia hills, to the north and the Babai River flowing through it.

Wildlife inside Bardiya National Park

Bardia National Park boasts a variety of wildlife with endangered species calling it home. When embarking on a safari, in the park you may come across;

 Majestic Bengal tigers, Asian elephants,Elegant swamp deer, Gangetic dolphins, one horned rhinoceros and Elusive leopards

Additionally the park is inhabited by various other mammals like hog deer, sambar deer spotted deer, langur monkeys, rhesus macaques, sloth bears, blue bulls (nilgai) barking deer, honey badgers and otters.

Birdwatchers can delight in spotting, over 400 species of birds including the Florican, Bengal florican, Sarus crane well as various storks, egrets, herons and kingfishers.
