
Blue Sheep Hunting Overview
Dhorpatan is the one and only single hunting reserve of Nepal. This hunting reserve was established in 1987 A.D covering a total area of 1,325 sq. km. The hunting reserve covers the remarkable area of Rukum, Myagdi and Baglung including the world Seventh highest peak Mt Dhaulagiri. Hunting reserve ranges from 2,850 m to 5,500m altitude from the sea level. Reserve is rich in alpine, subalpine and temperate vegetation. Dhorpatan Hunting reserve is also rich in faunal diversity. Reserve is home to many species of animals, including 18 species of mammals, 137 species of birds and 2 species of reptiles. Some of them include snow leopard, red panda, blue sheep, Cheer pheasant, koklass pheasant and Impeyan pheasant are common.
