Itinerary
Your Journey, Step by Step
Fly to Lukla (2,800 m/9,184 ft), trek to Phakding (2,652 m/8,700 ft)
ur Everest Base Camp trek and Ama Dablam Base Camp trek starts with the adventurous flight to Lukla. After early morning breakfast, your trekking guide will meet you at your hotel and transfer you to the airport. You will have an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. During this adventurous flight, you will have an amazing dramatic view of terraced hills and the distant Himalayan giant. After about 30 mins you will land on the Tenzing Hillary Airport, Lukla
On reaching Lukla, we meet our porters and start trekking to Phakding. The trail from Lukla first drops steeply then descends to Cheplung and Thado Khoshi Gaun. There we have to cross the suspension bridge and head to the Mt. Kusum Kanguru. Then we climb the bridge and reach on the bank of the Dudh Koshi River, Ghat. After Ghat a little easy walk and a climb lead us to Phakding. Overnight at Phakding.
Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m/11,283 ft)
From Phakding, we follow the trail that passes through pine forest. Then we continue our trek through the valley of Dudh Koshi River. Crossing several villages Toktok, Benkar we reach the border of Sagarmatha National Park, Monjo. Here, we have to verify our trekking permits. After Monjo, we walk along a scenic trail filled with mani stones, Buddhist shrines, and colourful flags. Moreover, you get to enjoy magnificent views of Ama Dablam and other peaks. Then we cross the Dudh Koshi river much time and reach Jorsale. After Jorsale, Namche will appear surrounded on the three sides by mountain ranges. The peaks of Thamserku and Kwangde are visible at the East and to the West. Besides that, the sacred mountain Khumbila is within sight as we approach the town Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar: acclimatization
We will send one more day in Namche Bazaar to get used to the high altitude and thinning oxygen in the air. And as an acclimatization hike, we hike to the Hotel Everest View that lies above Namche. From this highest hotel, you can enjoy splendid views of mighty Mt. Everest, Tawache, Ama Dablam, Khumbu Himal, and many other peaks
And then we trek to the Syanboche airstrip. It is the world’s highest airport at 3,780m/12,401ft. Then return back to Namche Bazaar. This acclimatization helps to know about the lifestyle and culture of the local people in the Khumbu region. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.
Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3810 m/ 12,496 ft)
From Namche, we head towards Tengboche. We first trek through ups and down then we will walk along with one of the most beautiful parts of the trail. This route is a spiritual one comprising of various monasteries and temple. We will be crossing an alpine meadow filled with pine trees and rhododendron bushes. Moreover, you can see Nepal national bird Pheasant & mountain animal called Himalayan Thar
Then we will be through several villages like Kyangjuma, Sanasa, Phunki Thang. On the way, you have an astounding close view of Ama Dablam (6,814m) and Thamserku (6,618m). After that, we will arrive at Tengboche. We can see the Mount Everest, Kangtega and many other world high mountains from here. Tengboche village is famous for Thyangboche monastery, the largest monastery in the region. We will visit this monastery. Overnight at Tengboche.
Tengboche to Dingboche (4,410m/ 14,464ft)
Our today’s trek from Tengboche begins with a descent through a beautiful forest along with the Imja Khola valley. On reaching Debuche, the trail becomes very pleasant. Then we cross an iron bridge on the right side and you get the great view of Ama Dablam (6,814m). Then we follow the trail that gradually makes way to Pangboche village
Crossing Pangboche village, the trail continues the summer pastures on to Dingboche. On reaching Dingboche we will find the tree line disappears and the landscapes turn barren and stony. Overnight stay at Dingboche.
Acclimatization Day in Dingboche
We will have another acclimatization day at Dingboche, as you are at an altitude of above 4000 meters. Dingboche is a beautiful village with an array of fields enclosed by stone walls to protect barley, buckwheat, and potatoes from the cold wind. From Dingboche, we can either hike up to Chhukung or Nangkar Tshang Peak. Chhukung (4,750m/15,583ft) hike is an easy day hike which offers magnificent views of the Mt. Makalu (8,463m/27,765ft), Island Peak (6,160m/20,209ft), Peak 38 and several other Himalayan peaks
And Nangkar Tshang Peak (5,083m/16,676ft) hiking offers magnificent views of Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Thamserku and Mt. Kangtega. Overnight stay at Dingboche. After doing any of this hiking we will have rest. Overnight at Dingboche.
Dingboche to Lobuche (4,910m/16,105ft)
We will have another acclimatization day at Dingboche, as you are at an altitude of above 4000 meters. Dingboche is a beautiful village with an array of fields enclosed by stone walls. Stonewall is built to protect barley, buckwheat, and potatoes from the cold wind. From Dingboche, we can either hike up to Chhukung or Nangkar Tshang Peak. Chhukung (4,750m/15,583ft) hike is an easy day hike which offers magnificent views of the Mt. Makalu (8,463m/27,765ft), Island Peak (6,160m/20,209ft), Peak 38 and several other Himalayan peaks
And Nangkar Tshang Peak (5,083m/16,676ft) hiking offers magnificent views of Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Thamserku and Mt. Kangtega. Overnight stay at Dingboche. After doing any of this hiking we will have rest. Overnight at Dingboche.
Lobuche to Gorakshep (5,160m/16929ft)- Everest Base Camp (5,380m/17,600ft)
Today we are hiking to the first main destination of Everest Base Camp with Ama Dablam trek. In the early morning, we will have a short walk from Lobuche alongside the right of the Khumbu Glacier. And the trail takes you to Gorakshep. Gorakshep is the last human settlement before reaching Everest Base Camp. So, you’ll find no lodge onward. You get to see the birdlife in such an altitude
After some time in Gorakshep, we follow the next and straight trail with some dunes and moraine. And finally, a wide trail on the surface reaches Everest Base Camp. The Base camp of the almighty Mount Everest is stunningly beautiful. From the base came we can enjoy the unbelievable melt patterns and admire the ice towers on the upper part of the Khumbu Glacier. After spending the spending beautiful time in Everest Base The camp we hike back to Gorakshep. Overnight in Gorakshep.
Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5,545m/11,283ft) to Pangboche (3,930m/12,893ft)
From Gorakshep, we will have an early morning hike to Kala Patthar. So that if we reach on time, we will be able to catch the sunrise and sparkling Mount Everest in the sun. First, we walk in a somewhat steep. Then climbing uphill we can see Lingtren, Khumbutse and Changtse mountains. Stepping in Kala Patthar, we reach the highest point of our Everest Base Camp and Ama Dablam Base Camp trek. From Everest Base camp we will have an outstanding view. Kala Patthar is a perfect vantage point. We will look over the world’s tallest mountain Mt. Everest closer than ever. Furthermore, we will have a spectacular view of Nuptse Nup, Changtse and Lhotse. After some time, we walk back to Gorak Shep. And after lunch, we hike back to Pangboche same day. Overnight at Pangboche.
Pangboche to Ama Dablam Base Camp (4,570m/14993ft.) Trek
After breakfast in Pangboche, we will head toward another destination of our Everest Base Camp trek with Ama Dablam Base Camp trek. At first, the trail descends from Pangboche. Then we cross the Imja Khola and have a steep climb up to Cholungche Kharka. From here the trail gradually climbs up to the Ama Dablam Base Camp. We have the incredible view of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Lhotse Shar, Nuptse, Lobuche peak, Pumori, Thamserku, Kangtega, Kusum Kanguru, Cholatse, Taboche peak, Khumbila and Kwangde Ri, Khumbu Yul Lha, etc. on the way. We also have the view of beautiful Minbo Glacier. And on reaching Ama Dablam Base Camp, we have these views come closer and distinctly stunning. Moreover, we will see the beautiful Mt. Ama Dablam from the base camp. After visiting around & spending beautiful time in Ama Dablam Base Camp we trek back to Pangboche. Overnight at Pangboche
Pangboche to Namche (3,440 m/11,283ft) Trek
From Pangboche, we hike back to Namche Bazaar. The trail from Pangboche descends to the Imja Khola. Crossing the suspension bridge we pass Debuche and have a steep climb to Tengboche. We walk through a forest of birches conifers and rhododendrons. Then we trek back along the Dudh Koshi River. We walk through a magnificent rhododendron forest and beautiful waterfall. On the way, we hike to Khumjung village, where Sir Edmund Hillary built his Schoolhouse in the Clouds and the famed Kunde hospital close by. We will visit the monastery at Khumjung where scalp of Yeti is preserved. And Namche is not fam from these villages. Overnight in Namche Bazaar
Namche to Lukla (2,850 m/9,350 ft)
Our trek to Lukla first descends through the forest towards the Dudh Koshi. Then we continue the same trail before, we re-cross the river several times and ascend through the village. You get to witness the stunning views of the highest mountains range. We pass through a variety of settlements and forest. Before Lukla, we reach Phakding following a bit up and down and level walk
After Phakding, we descend continues on a level walk for a while. Then we have a steep climb up that passes some Buddhist setups at Ghat village. The steep climb up to Thado Koshi and descend re-crossing the small bridges. And finally, the long suspension bridge turns off toward Lukla. Overnight at Lukla.
Lukla to Kathmandu Flight
After breakfast in Lukla, we will have an early morning thrilling flight to Kathmandu. With the beautiful scenic 30 mins flight, you reach Kathmandu. On reaching Kathmandu you will be dropped back to your hotel. As you arrive Kathmandu in the morning you have some time in the afternoon to explore the Thamel area. Or if you are tired you can have rest. In the evening you will have a cultural/ farewell dinner with the member of the Bold Himalaya. Overnight in Kathmandu valley
Final Departure or Join Next Program
Today is your last day in Nepal. One of the representatives from Bold Himalaya will pick you up from the hotel. And drop you to the Tribhuvan International Airport, 3 hours before your flight. We can quickly arrange our next trip if you are or want to stay longer in Nepal.
