Overview

Everest Base Camp is the first camp of Mt. Everest to prepare a train for climbing mount Everest which is 5,364m high from sea level. Everest Base Camp is the most popular trekking routes in the world. EBC trek is famous for its spectacular mountain peaks. Also for the loyalty and friendliness of the inhabitants of the Everest region. Everest Base Camp trek retraces the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary, Tenzing Norgay & the countless other early pioneers of Mount Everest.

Everest Base Camp is at the base of the world’s tallest mountain, Mt. Everest surrounded by plummeting glaciers and 8,000-meter giants i.e. four of the world’s ten tallest peaks- Mt. Everest (8,848m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516m), Mt. Makalu (8,481m) and Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201m). Besides that, anywhere you stand on the route to Everest Base Camp, the vista behind you will be shimmering mountains. You will also get the mesmerizing sight of the Khumbu Icefall. Khumbu icefall is a brilliant ice formation located at the edge of Khumbu Glacier. You have stunning views of the mountains including Mt Ama Dablam, Mt. Kangtega, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Kusum Kanguru, Mt Pumori, Mt. Lhotse, Lobuche Peak, Island peak, Mt. Makalu. And the closest view of Mt. Everest from Kala Patthar is mesmerizing. The trail follows any suspension bridge with many prayers flag and chanted stone carving.


Everest Base Camp trail takes you through Himalayan sherpa villages. And passes through the alpine vegetation decorated with vibrant rhododendron forest. You can see the continuous stretch of the snow-clad peaks unveils behind the confluence of hills and clouds. You get to enjoy the extraordinary beauty of the Khumbu. It is a combination of high adventure with incredible Himalayan views.


The trail to the base camp passes through the countries first national park. Sagarmatha National Park, which is also listed as the world heritage sites. This forest provides habitat to at least 118 species of birds and is home to a number of rare mammal species. Forest of pine and hemlock cover the lower elevations of the national park. Sagarmatha National Park area is also the major source of glaciers. And it provides freshwater-based benefits for the people downstream. It is one of the most geologically interesting regions in the world with high geologically young mountains and glaciers. Moreover, this park contains the world’s highest ecologically characteristic flora & fauna, intricately blended with the rich Sherpa culture.


Everest Base Camp trek starts with the thrilling flight from Kathmandu to Lukla while you are in flight catch every moment beautiful with the scenery of the village, cultivated land, green forest close view of many mountains. The flight takes approximately 30 minutes and you will be landing on the lap of the mountain at an altitude of 2860m/9383ft. Lukla airport is considered as Tenzing-Hilary airport one of the most thrilling airports in the world.

The trail from Lukla descends Cheplung and with the first glimpse of Mt. Khumbila ascend to village Ghat. Walk through the rhododendron forest, Snowcapped mountain, monasteries and many more to Phakding.  The trail through suspension bridges and the dense forest of Sagarmatha National park. Viewing Kongde Ri (6,187m) Kusum Kanguru (6367m/20889ft), the trail crosses some villages Tok Tok, Benkar to the entrance checkpoint of Sagarmatha National Park, Monjo village. The next stop is the famous Namche. We walking through the national park and following Dudh Khoshi river to Jorsale and Namche.


Namche Bazar the trading hub of Sherpa people has shops, restaurants, bars. It is the first acclimatization day, you will hike up to Everest view hotel having coffee, enjoying 360-degree view of Mount Everest and surrounding peaks. Visit Sherpa museum, Tenzing Norgay memorial park

After the leaving of Namche bazaar, EBC trekking trail follows the valley of Imja Khola. You have an amazing view of Mount Everest, Thamserku, Kangtega and Ama Dablam mountains and dominating the skyline ahead are the giants, Lhotse and Mt. Everest. And the steep climb from Imja Khola to Tengboche. This viewpoint offers an exceptional view of 8,000m and 7,000m peaks and has the famous Tengboche Monastery. Tengboche Monastery (Dawa Choling Gompa) one of the popular monasteries of Nepal, every bushiest monk the gathering preys and songs, you can partake in these beautiful moments



Pass through innumerable Chortens, Mani walls and small Chorten. Enjoying a close-up view of Ama Dablam, cross the suspension bridge over the Imja Khola. Trek in the fields of barley, buckwheat, and potatoes to Dingboche (4410m). It is another extra acclimatization day we climb up to Nangkartshang Peak (5083m/16679ft). It is one of the best viewpoints of Khumbu offers the view of the world’s three highest peaks- Lhotse, Makala, and Cho Oyu, Imja Lake, Dzongla lake, Imja valley and many more.

Furthermore, the trail takes you Lobuche, cross Thukla pass (4877m/ 16000ft) it is the memorial to the fallen Mount Everest climbers. The trail offers an amazing view of Cholatse, Taboche, Lobuche West and Lobuche East.


The trail then ascends through moraine glacier, sandpit and boulders along Imja River to Gorakshep( 5140m/16863ft). Gorakshep is the last human settlement at a higher altitude. It is also the fork that leads to Everest Base Camp or Kala Patthar.


We follow the Khumbu glacier to Everest Base Camp (5364m/17598ft) offers beautiful view of Himalaya, Khumbu Icefall and many more, Hike to Kalapattar (5545m) gives superb Himalayan views including the Mt. Everest 8848m, Mt. Lhotse 8516m, Mt. Nuptse 7855m, Mt. Pumori 7161m, Mt. Changtse 7550m, Mt. Lingterin 6679m, Mt. Amadablam 6856m, Mt. Thamserku 6723m, Mt. Kangtega 6685m, Mt. Kusum Kanguru 6367m, Mt. Kongde 6011m, Mt. Khumbila 5761m (God of the Khumbu), Tawache peak 6367m, Mt. Cholatse 6335m, Island peak 6179m, Lobuche peak 6145m, Pokalde peak 5806m, Honku south peak 6119m.

And same way back to Lukla and fly to Kathmandu

BEST TIME FOR EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK:


The best time for the Everest base camp trek is Autumn(September October November) and Spring(March, April, May). Although you can do the EBC trek for a whole year.

During winter it may be difficult because of snow. 

Itinerary

On your arrival at Kathmandu, one of our representatives will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening we will brief you about your EBC trek.
Overnight at Kathmandu at 3* Catagory Hotel 

We will start our Everest Base Camp 13 day’s trek with a scenic flight. After early morning breakfast in Kathmandu, we transfer you to the domestic airport and fly to Lukla, Tenzing Hillary airport. About 30 minutes of scenic flight from Kathmandu, we arrive at the Lukla Airport, the high place airport in Nepal. And the journey to the Himalayan begins after registering an entrance card at Lukla Tourism Checkpoint.

From Lukla, we begin our EBC trekking and head toward Phakding. Then trial formally commences after entering through Pasang Lhamu Sherpa Memorial gate. At first, the trail drops down to Thalsaroa and Cheeplung. We can have the spectacular vista of surging Dudh Khoshi river on the way to Cheeplung. From Cheeplung, the trail crosses through the suspension bridge over Thado Khola offering the view of Mt. Khumbila before reaching Ghat.

The trail continues to Phakding, which takes about 2 hours inclined walk offering a spectacular demonstration of the prayer wheels, mantras painted Mani stones and gompas.

The trail from Phakding to Namche is so enchanting though it is a long and tiring walk. In the beginning, the trek follows the bank of Dudh Koshi River leading to various Sherpa villages: Rimijung, Zamfute, Benkar, and Chhamuwa offering the serene beauty in the Himalayan region. After registering the entrance card at Chhamuwa, we climb through the magnificent forest of rhododendron, fir and Mongolia trees. Then we have to submit the entrance card and National Park entry card as we arrive at the border of Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo Village.

From Monjo trail continues along the riverbed to the confluence of the Bhote and Dudh Koshi Rivers. Then the trail climbs steadily, crossing the high Tenzing-Hilary suspension bridge. Finally, with the glimpse of Everest and the Nuptse-Lhotse, three hours’ ascent through pine forest leads to Namche Bazaar.

Before moving up to a higher elevation, we have acclimatization day in Namche. Namche Bazaar is considered the Gateway to Everest and is the biggest town along the Everest trail.


First, we will walk to the other settlements of the Khumjung Valley, then we will head toward the Everest View Hotel. It is one of the highest placed hotels in the world. From here you can have a panoramic view of Mt. Khumbila, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Similarly, we can hike to Syangboche airstrip, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Namche village from the runway. After exploring these places, you can hike back to Namche have a rest. Overnight at Namche Lodge.

After a well-spent day at Namche, today's trail continues along the rushing glacial water of the Dudh Koshi with the views of the mountains and rises to Sanasa. Here the routes to Gokyo and Everest Base Camp fork. The trail to the right descends to cross the Dudh Koshi on a suspension bridge near Phunki Thenga. It is the lowest point north of Namche Bazaar.

Then entering the Imja Khola Valley, the trail rises steeply and through the rhododendron forest to the hilltop village of Tengboche.

After breakfast in Tengboche, we head toward Dingboche. The trail drops to Debuche crosses another exciting suspension bridge on the Imja Khola and gradually ascends to Pangboche with the view of Ama Dablam.

Then the trail follows the river closely and it gradually rises to its confluence with the Lobuche Khola. Our uphill trek with the amazing view of Lhotse, Island Peak and Ama Dablam reach the quaint traditional Sherpa village of Dingboche. Overnight at Dingboche local Tea House 

It’s another acclimatization day in our EBC trek, as the trail takes elevation above 4,000m. Dingboche is the perfect place for the final acclimatization so we enjoy the rest day, climate, landscape, tradition in Chhukung valley. Today, we will have a 400m climb to the Nabkartshang Gompa, on the ridge north of Dingboche village. This point offers the view of Mt. Makalu, the fifth highest mountain in the world to the east and an amazing view of Mt. Ama Dablam and the valley floor. We also visit Nangkar Tshang Gompa on the way to return to Dingboche. After returning we can have some rest. Overnight at Dingboche Local Tea House 

From Dingboche, we head toward Lobuche after breakfast. The trail climbs to a ridge providing towering views of Taboche Peak, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Khumbutse and Cholatse. Continue through Yak pastures before crossing a wooden bridge over a roaring stream to Duglha.

From Duglha, the trail traces along the moraine glacial formed by Khumbu glacial. Everest is hidden behind the views including tearing the wall of Nuptse and Lhotse. Following the valley upstream for about an hour to Lobuche, located at the foot of giant Lobuche peak.
Overnight stay at Lobuche Tea House.

Today is a long rewarding day, with a difficult walk along the Khumbu Glacier and up to Everest Base Camp. Following the windblown and rocky path, we get at the human settlement called Gorakshep. Gorakshep is the junction from where the path separates to Kalapatthar and EBC.

The trail from Gorakshep is full of sandpit and boulders which makes the hike more strenuous. Finally, about 2 hours hike to our destination, Everest Base Camp. Everest Base Camp, the world highest base camp on the Khumbu Glacier, opposite the dreaded icefall- the most adventurous section of an Everest ascent. You will have the heavenly sight of Khumbu Icefall from here. Similarly, the stunning view of the Khunbutse and Lingtren mountains can be seen.

After some rest, we trek back to Gorakshep.
Overnight stay at Gorakshep Tea House.

Today is a long rewarding day, with a difficult walk along the Khumbu Glacier and up to Everest Base Camp. Following the windblown and rocky path, we get at the human settlement called Gorakshep. Gorakshep is the junction from where the path separates to Kalapatthar and EBC.

The trail from Gorakshep is full of sandpit and boulders which makes the hike more strenuous. Finally, about 2 hours hike to our destination, Everest Base Camp. Everest Base Camp, the world highest base camp on the Khumbu Glacier, opposite the dreaded icefall- the most adventurous section of an Everest ascent. You will have the heavenly sight of Khumbu Icefall from here. Similarly, the stunning view of the Khunbutse and Lingtren mountains can be seen.

After some rest, we trek back to Gorakshep.
Overnight stay at Gorakshep Tea House.

Another rewarding day of the trek, a trip to the Kala Patthar summit. It will be one of the most difficult. We will have a very early morning walk to the Kala Patthar to see the sunrise view. It offers a stunning view of Mt. Everest along with Lingtren, Khumbutse, Nuptse, Pumori.

Afterwards, we will trek back to Gorakshep. Then the journey from the land of Himalayans descends the same route toward Sherpa village Lobuche. Following the route of Douglas village, the trail stops at a fork. Lastly, the route of Phulaji Kala village, stroll down towards the wide valley, Pheriche.

Pheriche is famous for the elementary health camp that runs under Himalayan Rescue Association.
Overnight at Pheriche. 

From Pheriche, the trail descends to the village Tengboche. The trail continuously drops down to Orso and the flat trail following the west bank of Imja river to Somare. the trail again drops down to Pangboche along Imja Khola and climbs up to Debuche. And the walking through the dense and tall rhododendron forest and suspension bridges to Tengboche

Tengboche the village has the largest sacred monastery in this region and it performs the longest Mani Rimdu festival in the month of October-November.
Overnight at Tengboche Tea House 

After breakfast, we descend to Phunki Thenga from Tengboche. Following the downhill and uphill trail for a short distance and again ascending to Sanasa the same route before. From here the trail drops to Khyangjuma village presenting a relaxing sight of charming landscape and massifs while climbing the ridge to Namche. We arrive back in Namche in the afternoon, we can enjoy our remaining day in Namche.

We start our trek after breakfast in the morning, we descend crossing several suspension bridges and further trekking to the Dudh Koshi river. Following the path passing through the small gompas, rhododendron forest with a pleasant environment for a few hours to Namche. Then gradual ascending to Lukla, with prayer flags, Chortens, Mani walls and miniature Gompas lined throughout the village.

On the last day of our trek, we will have early breakfast in Lukla fly to Kathmandu. After about 30 mins thrilling scenic flight you arrive at Kathmandu. One of our representatives will be at the airport and you will be transferred to the hotel. In the evening you will enjoy a cultural dinner with the Bold Himalayan team.
