Your Journey, Step by Step
Fly to Lukla, Trek to Phakding (2,651m/8,700ft)
In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel and escort you to the Airport, domestic terminal. About 35 minutes thrilling flight from Kathmandu with the far view of mountains and hill, you arrive at Tenzing Hillary Airport, Lukla.
On reaching Lukla you will meet porters and have breakfast and head towards Phakding.The the trail from Phakding gradually descends to Cheplung village. And further walking to Ghat offering the pristine view of Mt. Kusum Kangraru. Then we again have a gradual descend until Phakding. Overnight stay at Phakding.
Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,438m/11,280ft) 11km, 5 - 6 hours
After having breakfast in Phakding, we head toward Namche following the Dudh Koshi river. Crossing the river several, we pass by some small villages. Continuing the trek, we reach another beautiful Sherpa settlement, Monjo. Reaching Monjo, you will enter the Sagarmatha National Park. Before entering the National Park, permits are checked Then, walk toward Jorsale and stop for lunch.
The trail goes along the Dudh Koshi river. And we walk along the path surrounded by pine forest, the trail ascends until Namche Bazaar. The peaks of Thamserku and Kwangde are visible to the east and the west, and the sacred mountain Khumbila is within sight, as we approach the town of Namche Bazaar. Namche is the central hub of the area. Overnight stay at Namche Bazaar.
Namche Bazaar: acclimatization
As trekking to higher altitudes needs acclimatization to get used to the thinner air, Namche is an ideal place to spend a day for acclimatization. And for acclimatization, we will walk up to Khumjung village through Everest view hotel in Syangboche and to the airstrip After breakfast, one and a half hours of steep walking to Syanboche, Everest View Hotel.
From Everest View Hotel, we can have a perfect view of Mt. Everest (8,848m), Ama Dablam (6,814m), Thamserku (6,618m), and more mountains. And have a coffee or tea in the Everest Hotel. You can also visit trek upward to the Syanboche airstrip. Syanboche airstrip is the world’s highest airport at an altitude of 3,780m/12,401ft. Then you follow the trail descending to the Khumjung village.
Khumjung village is the village of Sherpas, the world-renowned climbers. Here, you can visit Khumjung Hillary School and Khumjung Gompa. After exploring Khumjung valley hike back to Namche Bazaar. Overnight stay at Namche Bazaar.
Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,870m/12,694ft)
From Namche, we start our trek with the ridge trail and walk through the yak pasture land until Kyangjuma. The trail from here descends to the Dudh Koshi river. Then the trail ascends through the pine forest trees after crossing the long suspension bridge. Following the trail offers excellent panoramas of Thamserku, Kangtega, and Kusum Kanguru.
We trek through an alpine meadow filled with pine & rhododendron bushes to Tengboche. Tengboche is famous for being one of the oldest Monasteries. It is the most important Buddhist monastery in the Everest region. You will have time so, visit around and to the monastery. Overnight stay at Tengboche.
Tengboche to Dingboche (4,360 m/14,300ft)
Our trek to Dingboche starts with descending through the rhododendron forest to the Imja Khola. With the tremendous views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam, the reach to Debuche and cross the Imja River takes us to Pangboche The upper Pangboche trail rewards us with a more pristine view of the Himalayas and Pangboche Monastery.
They climb up and pass through the forest. Crossing a wooden bridge to the barren and stony landscape we reach Dingboche. Dingboche is a picturesque village surrounded by farms with a stone barricade. Overnight stay at Dingboche.
Dingboche to Lobuche (4940 m/16,207 ft): 7km, 5-6 hours
After breakfast in Dingboche, we start our trek. The trail climbs above the village with a panoramic view of the Khumbu Mountains including Mt. Makalu to Dughla at the end of the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier.
Then we come across stone memorials of mountaineers and trekkers who have perished in these mountains, at the top of Dughla Pass. And a steep climb takes us to Lobuche, where you have a spectacular view of Mt. Tawache and Mt. Nuptse.There is a small hill located nearby, which offers wonderful views of Khumbu Glacier. Tomorrow we are heading toward the main destination of our EBC trek. Overnight stay at Lobuche.
Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,170 m/16,961ft), visit Everest Base Camp (5,364 m/17,594ft)
We will wake up early in the morning and head toward EBC. Walk along the Khumbu Glacier, following the rocky moraine path with the view of icy glacial pond and icebergs down below of Khumbu glacier. A short downhill walk after the last rocky moraine knoll brings us to Gorakshep. Gorakshep is the last settlement before Everest Base Camp. On reaching Gorakshep we will have lunch and hike up to Everest Base Camp.
From Gorakshep, we walk along a steep trail filled with loose rocks and gravel following the Khumbu glacier. On the way you have a huge slab laying scatter. Then you can see the Everest Base Camp, at the foot of Mount Everest right before the Khumbu Icefall. Finally, you have successfully reached the Base Camp of Everest.
You will have an unforgettable view of Mt. Khumbutse, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Changtse and the Ice Fall from the base camp. After spending some time at Everest Base Camp and gazing out some of the tallest mountains on earth we hike back to Gorakshep. At base camp, we can’t see Everest so we will have to Kalapa Patthar for close up view of Everest. Overnight stay at Gorakshep.
Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar, back to Gorak Shep, fly to Kathmandu by Helicopter: 3 km, 3-4 hours’ trek
Today we will have an early morning hike toward Kala Patthar. It lies towards the west. Kala Patthar is one of the highest and most popular viewpoints in the Everest Region.
Early morning hiking increases the chance of clearly seeing Mt. Everest On reaching Kala Patthar, we can see the sun turning into an orange globe and firing up the icy summits of Pumori, Nuptse, Changtse, and Mt. Everest before finally setting below the mountains. Furthermore, we get to see 360-degree views of some of the highest peaks in the world.
That precious view of the tallest peaks in the world will remain forever with you. After enjoying the amazing views of snow-loaded giants over your head, we will hike back to Gorakshep. From Gorakshep, we fly back to Kathmandu by helicopter.
This ride enables you to enjoy the panoramic aerial Himalayan views. Likewise, you will be flying back admiring nature’s beauty and with the splendid aerial view of the Khumbu region.
Flying to Kathmandu by Helicopter will be a new experience for the trekker. After landing at Kathmandu airport we will transfer you to your Hotel.
