Your Journey, Step by Step
Spare Day in Kathmandu
We’ll meet you at the hotel to give you details, about the expedition. Please make sure your fees are settled before we can start the journey. Once thats done feel free to unwind or take a stroll, around the city. We’ll sort out the permits and double check your gear before we set off. If you require any trekking gear you’ll have an opportunity to purchase it. You can also consider sightseeing tours of Kathmandu Valley as part of your itinerary.
Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and Trek to Phakding
We’re off, to the airport for our early morning flight to Lukla. Looking out from the otter plane we’ll be treated to breathtaking views of some of the peaks in the world such as Cho Oyu standing tall at 8153m Lhotse at 8516m Gauri Shankar at 7145m, Menlungtse at 7181m and of course Mount Everest. The journey usually takes 40 minutes to reach Lukla.
Trek from Phakding to Namche bazzar
We’re taking it slow to let our bodies adjust and fully appreciate the scenery of Khumbu. Starting from Phakding we’ll follow the Dudh Koshi valley towards Monjo, the gateway to Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park. Along the way we’ll catch a glimpse of Thamserku at 6608m. Crossing the Hillary Bridge, a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers marks an ascent to Namche. The trail leads us through forests until we reach a vantage point offering our glimpse of Mt. Everest majestically towering behind Nuptse Lhotses grand ridge.
Namche itself is a village with houses, cozy lodges, fluttering prayer flags all set against the backdrop of Kongde Ri Peak in a horseshoe shaped valley, with steep slopes.
Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar
If we’re adjusting well to the surroundings we might feel like taking a stroll up a hill for a view. From there we can see all the way up the Imja Khola Valley, to where the icy moraine begins at the foot of the majestic Mt Everest standing tall at 8848 meters. You can also opt for a stroll to the village of Khumjung, home to Sir Edmund Hillarys renowned “Schoolhouse in the Clouds” and the well known Khunde hospital. Trek to Tengboche
We begin our journey, with a challenging ascent from Namche towards a ridge that winds above the Imja Khola River. Along the way we are treated to breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and the picturesque Ama Dablam. Descending through a rhododendron filled forest we reach Phunki Tenga by the Dudh Kosi River for our lunch break. Crossing a suspension bridge over the river we embark on an hour climb through pine and rhododendron woods. Wildlife sightings are common here with chances to spot Himalayan Thar, Musk Deer and pheasants amidst the forests. The trail gradually levels out after exiting the forest before another 1.5 hour ascent through meadows leads us to Tengboche monastery perched on a ridge overlooking peaks like Kantega in the Everest region. The panoramic views, from Tengboche of Everest and surrounding peaks will leave you awestruck.
Trek to Dingboche
After leaving Tengboche we take a trail that leads down to the Imja River. Following the river we traverse a path, with mountain views and scenic landscapes all the way to Pangboche village. Situated at an altitude of 3900 meters the village offers breathtaking vistas of towering mountains in the background. Marveling at peaks like Mt. Everest, Mt. Amadablam and Mt. Lhotse we trek up to the pastures of Dingboche passing through meadows and summer camps of yak herders before reaching the expansive pasturelands of Dingboche itself. Known as a summer valley Dingboche transforms into a wonderland in winter. Blooms with beauty, during summer adorned with grasslands and grazing yaks. Tonight we will lodge at a guesthouse nestled in Dingboche.
Acclimatization at Dingbouche
Today was another day dedicated to acclimatization at this altitude. During our hike, for acclimatization above the town we were treated to breathtaking views of three towering peaks. Makalu, Cho Oyu and Lhotse. All reaching heights of 8,000/26,200 feet. Our objective for the day was to reach an elevation of 4,900m/16,000 feet to witness some of the sights on this journey. This particular day holds a place in Ians heart! Following our time admiring the views and adjusting to the altitude we will make our way down, to Dingbouche for lunch. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore Dingbouche village and before facing challenging days ahead. You will trek about 4 hours and climb about 550 meters.
Trek to Lobuche
Today we’re heading to Lobuche following the trail, towards Thukla at 4,620m/15,157 feet. We have the Lobuje East Peak at 6,119m/20,075 feet ahead of us and the imposing north face of Taweche on our left. After a three hour walk we’ll reach the lodges in Thukla for an early lunch break. Post lunch we’ll trek uphill for an hour to reach the Everest Memorial spot. The view from there offers sights of Ama Dablam, Cholatse and Taweche. Continuing our journey, past the Memorial we’ll follow a path that runs alongside the Khumbu Glacier originating from Mount Everest. After another hour of walking we’ll arrive at a cluster of tea houses nestled in Lobuche at 4,940m/16,207 feet. Todays trek will take 5 6 hours in total as we cover a distance of 7.5 miles/12 km.
Trek to Lobuche Peak Base Camp
The journey officially starts from here. Following a nights sleep we’ll depart Lobuche village towards the base camp of Lobuche Peak. The beginning of the trek is fairly easy as it follows a path. As we progress the trail will become steeper and rougher making it more challenging as we ascend.
We’ll traverse the Lobuche Glacier. Be greeted by views of Thamserku and Cholatse peaks. The uphill climb will resume more. After a 6 7 hour trek we’ll reach the base camp of Lobuche Peak.
Once we reach the destination we plan to take a break and enjoy lunch at our campsite. After that we’ll kick off our climbing lessons with the assistance of our climbing instructor. We’ll get hands on practice using equipment, like harnesses climbing boots, ice axes, ropes, zoomers and more to boost our skills and build confidence. Following the training session we’ll have dinner. Settle in for the night, at our campsite.
Trek to Lobuche High Camp
This morning we’ll start our day at the lake enjoy breakfast and once all our equipment is packed up we’ll head towards Lobuche Peak High Camp. The journey, to High Camp usually takes 4 hours. As we make our way towards Gokyo, the majestic views of Ama Dablam and Cholatse will grace the skyline. We’ll veer off the Gokyo trail. Head northward. The path starts off easy. Gradually becomes steep as we ascend 450m/1,476 feet to reach High Camp. Taking our time we move steadily towards High Camp where we set up camp next, to another lake resting and preparing for our summit attempt.
Lobuche Peak Climb and Return to Base Camp
Our day will start early around 1 2 AM. The ascent is quite lengthy. The summit may experience winds by midday. Therefore it’s important for us to reach the top early. We’ll follow our Sherpa guides lead as we make our way, towards the peak of Lobuche. Using fixed ropes ice axes and necessary equipment we’ll steadily ascend. With our guide leading the way there’s no need to fret about anything.
Heading up snow covered slopes our journey will lead us to altitudes. We’ll need to ascend a hill with a 45 degree incline to reach the summit of Lobuche Peak. Upon conquering this challenge and reaching the peak the sense of accomplishment will be truly delightful. The summit provides a view of the entire surrounding area allowing us to savor every moment spent at the top. Following this exhilarating ascent our descent will take us back, to the camp before proceeding to Lobuche Base Camp. The entire endeavor is estimated to last around 8 9 hours offering us a deserved opportunity, for rest and rejuvenation.
Trek to Pangboche
We’ll wake up feeling accomplished as we conquer Lobuche East Peak. Starting the day with a sense of pride we’ll begin our journey, to Pangboche. Memories of our climb and everything leading up to this moment will come flooding as we make our way. The trek will kick off with a descent, from the base camp.
As we continue our journey we’ll catch sight of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Pokalde, Kantega and other majestic peaks. Descending further we’ll come upon a forest filled with juniper and rhododendron trees. The forest truly shines in Spring when its adorned with vibrant Rhododendron blooms. Strolling through the woods at a pace we’ll eventually arrive at Pangboche village home, to the Pangboche Monastery. Our day will draw to a close with a stroll, around the monastery grounds.
Trek to Namche Bazaar
In the morning we’ll enjoy breakfast before setting off for Namche Bazaar. Our journey will kick off with a stroll through a area much like yesterday. Meandering amidst Rhododendron and Pine trees we’ll savor the ambiance of the woodland. Soon we’ll arrive at the banks of Dudh Koshi River. Cross over a suspension bridge into a forest. Against the backdrop of peaks and valleys we’ll follow a winding path ahead. As we leisurely traverse the trail passing by Tengboche village we’ll finally reach Namche Bazaar by evening. It promises to be a time exploring the town.
Trek to Lukla
We are about to leave Namche Bazaar and head, towards Lukla. The journey will kick off with a descent to the Dudh Koshi Rivers edge. We’ll then follow a path for some time.
Our route will take us through the forests of Sagarmatha National Park along the banks of Dudh Koshi River and past charming Sherpa villages. Again we’ll enjoy a walk, along the trail.
We plan to arrive at Lukla towards evening taking our time to finish the journey. With a sense of accomplishment we look forward to creating lasting memories, in Lukla.
Flight to Kathmandu
After an ascent of Lobuche Peak and an enjoyable trek, through the Everest Region it’s time to bid farewell to this place. Tomorrow morning we’ll embark on a flight, to Kathmandu. The Lobuche Peak journey will leave us with memories of our adventure as we return to Kathmandu. Upon reaching our hotel we’ll. Recharge for the evening. Perhaps on we’ll take a stroll through the bustling streets of Kathmandu.

While you have the option to purchase mineral water from lodges and shops along the way it is recommended that you bring a refillable water bottle and fill it with boiled water, which can be obtained from tea houses or lodges. If needed we can provide water purification tablets to ensure drinking water. It is strongly advised against consuming water from rivers, taps or wells as it may not be safe, for consumption.
