FAQs
Your Questions, Answered
What papers do I require for a trip to Tibet?
There are several documents you need before traveling. In Tibet, it is no longer possible to travel alone with all international travelers joining pre-arranged and pre-booked tour groups under the guidance of recognized Tibetan tourism agencies. First, you will need a Chinese visa for entry into China so that you can visit Tibet afterwards. However, when applying for a visa at your local Chinese Embassy, it is better not to mention that you will be heading to Tibet as this may complicate the process of obtaining a visa itself. You should have scanned copies of your passport and visa after getting your visa here, which is the first permit that one will need. It takes around 15-20 days for the permit to be processed but during low season of Tibetan tourism it could take even less time.
How can I travel to Tibet?
As a consequence, the only way one can enter Tibet is by means of these two countries’ several entry points. If you go to Tibet from mainland China, you will need to apply for a Chinese visa well in advance in your home country. Direct flights are available from major cities of mainland China such as Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Kunming etcetera. Travelers may take a train from Xining town or other major cities like Beijing, Chengdu, Xi’an, and Shanghai to reach Tibet.
Similarly, tourists going through Nepal have to apply for Chinese group visas at the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu even if they have already gotten their Chinese visas. Within about three official working days the group visa will be ready. It takes around an hour and a half to fly directly into Kathmandu and visitors could ascend onto the roof of the world, Lhasa. Lhasa via Everest North Face with a 6-day journey including visiting Everest Base Camp on the north side is another option for reaching Lhasa.
Can I do the Kora if I’m not religious?
Absolutely! Many trekkers join for the Himalayan vistas and cultural depth, though most leave feeling spiritually transformed.
What is the best time to go for a Kailash Charan Sparsh Tour?
The best time for Kailash Charan Sparsh Tour is from May to mid-October, during the summer and monsoon seasons. Favorable weather conditions, moderate temperatures, and the likelihood of snowfall and rainfall being low makes this an ideal time.
What preparations are needed for the Kailash Charan Sparsh Tour?
Since the journey can be challenging given its high altitude nature, you need to be moderately fit physically for this trip. Consider exercising and improving cardiovascular health before going on this journey. Also, choose a reputed travel company like Bold Himalaya for its experienced guides to make it a smooth experience.
Will my guide speak English?
