Your Journey, Step by Step
Best Time for Sundarijal Chisapani Nagarkot Trek
The Sundarijal Chisapani Nagarkot Trek can be done throughout the year, as it is a relatively low-altitude trek close to Kathmandu. However, the experience varies by season. Spring and autumn are the most favorable seasons because of comfortable temperatures, clearer skies, and better Himalayan visibility.
Spring (March-May) brings pleasant weather, blooming rhododendrons, fresh greenery, and beautiful mountain views.
Autumn (September-November) is considered one of the best periods, with clearer skies, dry trails, and excellent Himalayan views.
Winter (December-February) is colder, especially in Chisapani and Nagarkot, but the skies are often clear, and the trails are generally dry, making it a peaceful time for trekking.
Summer and monsoon (June-August) make the forests exceptionally lush and vibrant, but rainfall can make the stone steps and forest trails wet, muddy, and slippery, while clouds may reduce mountain visibility.
National Park Entry Permit
The trek begins at Sundarijal, which lies within Shivapuri National Park. Since the trail passes through a protected area, a national park entry permit is compulsory and must be obtained before starting the trek.
Accommodation during Sundarijal Chisapani Nagrakot trek
Accommodation along the Sundarijal Chisapani Nagarkot trek is simple, local, and comfortable.
In Chisapani, accommodations on this trek are adequate and cozy rather than luxurious. Trekkers stay in basic teahouses and village lodges. Rooms are typically twin-sharing with clean beds, pillows, and blankets.
Meals are home-cooked and include local Nepali dishes like dal bhat, noodles, soups, and tea, providing a warm and welcoming village experience.
In Nagarkot, accommodation options are slightly more developed. Nagarkot offers comfortable lodges, guesthouses, and 3-star hotels. Staying here is a highlight of the trek, as clear mornings reward trekkers with sunrise views over the Himalayas.
If you prefer a premium or luxury hotel, we can arrange an upgrade upon your request, subject to availability and additional cost.
Cash and payments
Carry enough cash for the trek, as ATMs and card payment facilities are not available along the trail. Teahouses, lodges, and small shops in villages mainly accept cash for meals, accommodation, and basic services.
Though breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in the packages as mentioned in inclusions, you may need to cover your personal or extra expenses.
Respect local cultural and environment
While trekking, respect local culture and traditions by walking quietly through villages and behaving modestly.
To help protect the fragile environment of Shivapuri National Park, always carry your trash back with you and avoid disturbing wildlife or the natural surroundings.
