Some members of the team were swept down to the base of the mountain. Nirmal Purja’s tracker later showed his location at approx. 5,700m /18,700ft at 10:18 am, indicating a fall of around 800m.
Communication with any members had become difficult. Radio contact was disrupted, and several climbers could not be reached. As scheduled check-ins were missed, concerns quickly escalated among Base Camp staff and expedition organizers. According to the expedition sources, the call for rescue wasn’t made until hours after the avalanche.
