Settled in the peaceful surroundings of Nagarjuna Hill, Jamacho Gompa is a charming place near the Kathmandu Valley. It is an easy trek that does not require complicated trekking equipment to reach the spiritual paradise. The route to Jamacho Gompa involves crossing Kathmandu-Machapokhari-Phulbari Gate-Jamacho summit-Phulbari Gate-Kathmandu.
Just a half-hour drive from the center of Kathmandu is the Phulbari Gate, which is also considered the entrance of Nagarjun Hill. The serenity of Nagarjuna Hill with its beautiful birds chirping, prayer flags, caves, and stupas creates a truly enchanting atmosphere.
As you climb, the views expand and the majestic Himalayas are revealed, including the famous Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, and Jugal Himalayas. The upper part offers beautiful views of the Kathmandu Valley and the beautiful mountain ranges scattered all around. The entire experience is a feast to behold, which together with the serenity of the surroundings makes Jamacho Temple, a special place for those seeking beauty and comfort on the spiritual side.
Jamacho Gumba (Monastery)
Jamacho Gumba is located on the slopes of Nagarjuna Hill (also known as Vindya Hill), at an altitude of 2,130 meters above sea level, in Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. It is a pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists and there is an idol of Nagarjuna in the Jamacho Temple.
To the east of the stupa, several Buddha deities are enjoying the surroundings. The first line shows Mahakala at peace, while the second line shows peace between white Tara, Padmasambhava Green Tara, and Vajrapani. The third line is dedicated to Vasundhara. The climate is ideal for developing meditation and relaxation in the spiritual center.
