Saga Nagarkot hiking is one of the shortest hiking packages around Kathmandu valley with superb Himalayan views including the top of the world Mt. Everest (8848.86m), Langtang, Gaurishankar Himalayan range, beautiful landscapes, mixed culture, and terraced fields. The hiking begins from Kathmandu to Saga and saga to Nagarkot. Saga has a beautiful statue of lord Shiva, which is the tallest Shiva statue temple in Nepal. It has a beautiful environment and clean surroundings. The statue lies in the center of the greenery. We can visit the temple and feel the beauty of that place. Hiking to the Nagarkot is a wonderful thing you can do in Kathmandu. Views of the mountain ranges of Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal Range, Langtang Himal Range, Rolwaling Range, and Everest Range will be seen from here.

Your Journey, Step by Step

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Kailashnath Mahadev Shiva Statue – Saga and hike towards Nagarkot

We will be visiting the Kailashnath Mahadev Shiva statue of Saga on the first day of our hike. We drive from Kathmandu to Saga. After 1:30 min of drive, we can reach saga, Kailashnath Mahadev Shiva statue.

The statue of lord Shiva on Saga is the world’s tallest statue of lord Shiva. It is 144 feet tall(351 feet). It is also the second tallest Hindu deity statue after Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue in Bali, Indonesia. While hiking we can see the beautiful scenery of the city. The saga is full of greenery. The saga is in a peaceful and serene environment, visitors can not leave without praising the impressive of the idol. Kailashnath statue looks very attractive because of it has been surrounded by greenery. The station is very clean and good for hiking. We will explore the Saga for around 3-4hrs by visiting the temple, and park and have a beautiful view of the hills and city. We will move to Nagarkot

The hike from saga to Nagarkot will be very enjoyable. It will take us around 3-4 hours to reach the base of the Nagarkot hill. On the trail, we can see agricultural people on the field. We can see a marvelous view of the sunset from here and an evening view of hills from the Nagarkot. There are many hotels and logs on the base of Nagarkot hill. We will stay the night over there.

Day 2: Exploring Nagarkot and back to Kathmandu

We can see a beautiful view of sunrise from the Nagarkot. The eye-catching view of sunrise and morning view of the city and hill will be a memorable views for you. We will do our meal and continue the trip to explore Nagarkot hill.

Nagarkot is a popular hill station with a height of 2175m. It is one of the nearest hiking spots around Kathmandu. We can enjoy the trek by seeing the beautiful forest. We can see many types different of plants and herbs on the trail to the top of the hill. If the weather is clear we can see beautiful mountain ranges of Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal Range, Langtang Himal Range, Rolwaling Range, and Everest Range from here. Nagarkot is a community of Newari people. You can see the agriculture of Newari inhabitants. You can have a taste of Newari food over here.

After exploring Nagarkot hill with having a beautiful view, and scenery and having a wonderful time there. We will return back to Kathmandu. While returning we can visit Bhaktapur durbar,55 window temple also.
